Ομάδα Νέων εκ του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου στην Κραϊόβα | «We are all one chalice» in Craiova of Romania

A group of youth of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, upon invitation by the local Hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Irineu of Oltenia, participated in the 6th International Meeting of Orthodox Youth (Romanian acronym: ITO), which was organized by the Patriarchate of Romania, this year in the city of Craiova. The Meeting took place between September 5 and 8, 2019, with the motto “We are all one chalice! Faith, Hope and Love.” Head of the group was the Very Rev. Tertiary Patriarchal Deacon Alexandros, Director of the Patriarchal Library, together with the Rev. Archdeacon of the Holy Metropolis of Belgium Philadelphos Kafalis and the Rev. Patriarchal Deacon Aetios Nikiforos. In the Meeting participated more than 2500 youth, coming from the dioceses of the Patriarchate of Romania, as well as delegations from the Ancient Patriarchates of Alexandria and Antioch, and from the Autocephalous Churches of Cyprus and Greece.

The inaugural session of the Meeting took place in the evening of September 5 by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania, who, in his address to the youth, underlined that through faith, hope and love we become apostles of the Gospel, when we cultivate sincere love in family, in friendship, in parish, in society.

During the days of the Meeting, the youth had the chance to listen to the parenetic words of Metropolitan Irineu and to have a discussion with him, to participate in various workshops, to attend concerts, to get to know the city of Craiova and its residents, and to go on pilgrimages to Holy Monasteries of the Holy Metropolis. The closing session of the Meeting took part in the Holy Monastery of Maglavit, where, after the end of the Divine Liturgy, the torch was passed to the delegation of the Holy Diocese of Timisoara, which undertook the organization of the next Meeting.
