His All-Holiness Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople-New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, explains the history of the 1964 encounter in the Holy Land between the two brother Bishops, Pope Paul VI and Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras. As the successors to this historic meeting, Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will also discuss the continued witness to the truth of the Gospel in a world facing many challenges.

Very Reverend Archimandrite Dr. Symeonides, of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, discusses the Apostolic Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, May 24-26, 2014, between Pope Francis of Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople-New Rome. This meeting will commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the meeting of their predecessors, Pope Paul VI and Patriarch Athenagoras I. That meeting, in 1964, was the first time an Ecumenical Patriarch and a Pope of Rome had met in over five hundred years.
