Με την Χάρη του Θεού και τις ευχές της Α.Θ.Μ. του Πάπα και Πατριάρχου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής κ.κ. Θεοδώρου Β, ολοκληρώθηκε η ποιμαντική επίσκεψη του Σεβασμιωτάτου Μητροπολίτου Άκκρας κ. Δανιήλ, στην Δημοκρατία της Ακτής Ελεφαντοστού (Côte d'Ivoire), διάρκειας ενός μηνός (22/2 έως 20/3/2025).
Τον Μητροπολίτη συνόδευαν ο Πανοσ. Αρχιμ. κ. Αιδέσιος Mukeke και ο Εντιμ. κ. Γεώργιος Constantin, Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος του Γραφείου Ανάπτυξης και Τεχνικών Έργων της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως.
Με την επίσκεψη αυτή τέθηκαν γερά θεμέλια της παρουσίας, δράσης και του μέλλοντος της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας, της υπό το παλαίφατο Πατριαρχείο Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής Ιεράς Μητρόπολεως Άκκρας (Γκάνα, Ακτή Ελεφαντοστού, Μάλι).
Ο Μητροπολίτης πραγματοποίησε συναντήσεις με υπουργούς, ανώτατα κυβερνητικά στελέχη, πολιτικούς, πολιτειακούς και θρησκευτικούς ηγέτες και παράγοντες του κράτους, τόσο στην πολιτική πρωτεύουσα Yamoussoukro όσο και στο Abidjan, οι οποίες καλύφθηκαν από τους τηλεοπτικούς σταθμούς της χώρας, προβάλλοντας την παρουσία της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας.
Ιστορική υπήρξε η εισδοχή στην Ορθοδοξία και η ένταξη στην ποιμαντική και πνευματική δικαιοδοσία του Πρεσβυγενούς Πατριαρχείου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής, πολυπληθούς ομάδος πλανηθέντων υπό αντικανονικού «εκκλησιαστικού μορφώματος» Χριστιανών οι οποίοι, μετά από αίτημά τους και όλες τις Κανονικές διαδικασίες, κατηχήθηκαν εντατικά τους τελευταίους 12 μήνες στην Ορθόδοξη πίστη και παράδοση, από τον Πανοσιολ. Αρχιμ. κ. Χρυσόστομο Kamuanga, κληρικό της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Κινσάσα.
Διά υπογραφής «Λιβέλου», του Μυστηρίου του Αγίου Χρίσματος και, εν συνεχεία, δια της Ιεράς Εξομολογήσεως και Κανονικής «Συμμαρτυρίας», ο Σεβασμιώτατος Μητροπολίτης κ. Δανιήλ χειροτόνησε 10 νέους Ιερείς και 13 Διακόνους, οι οποίοι εντάχθηκαν στο δυναμικό του Πατριαρχείου Αλεξανδρείας.
Επίσης, ξεκίνησαν συστηματικές Κατηχήσεις σε όλες τις νέες Ενορίες, η Χρίση δι’ Αγίου Μύρου (για τους ήδη Βαπτισμένους στο όνομα της Αγίας Τριάδος) και το Μυστήριο του Βαπτίσματος για τους μη Βαπτισμένους, στους περίπου 5.000 πιστούς που αποτελούν το νέο Ορθόδοξο ποίμνιο στην Ακτή Ελεφαντοστού. Ας υπομνησθεί, ότι κατά τον ίδιο τρόπο είχαν ασπασθεί την Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία μεγάλη ομάδα Γκανέζων Προτεσταντών, οι οποίοι από το έτος 1982 έως σήμερα είναι πλήρως ενταγμένοι στο Πατριαρχείο Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής και αποτελούν το αφοσιωμένο πολυπληθές ποίμνιο της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Άκκρας.
Ο Σεβασμιώτατος χειροθέτησε 23 Αναγνώστες και 27 ψάλτες και ψάλτριες για τις ανάγκες των νέων Ενοριών και Προέδρευσε της Γενικής Ιερατικής Σύναξης των Κληρικών της Ακτής Ελεφαντοστού (13ων ιερέων και 13ων διακόνων), δίδοντας κατευθύνσεις για το ποιμαντικό, φιλανθρωπικό και ιεραποστολικό έργο.
Επίσης, με την ευλογία του Σεβασμιωτάτου Μητροπολίτου Βελγίου, Υπερτίμου και Εξάρχου Κάτω Χωρών και Λουξεμβούργου κ. Αθηναγόρου, Προέδρου του Ορθοδόξου Θεολογικού Ινστιτούτου «ο Απόστολος Παύλος» στις Βρυξέλλες, ξεκίνησαν τις σπουδές τους στο θεολογικό πρόγραμμα σπουδών 8 ιερείς, 10 διάκονοι και 13 υποψήφιοι κληρικοί της Ακτής Ελεφαντοστού.
Κατά την διάρκεια της ποιμαντικής περιοδείας του, τέλεσε την Ακολουθία των Εγκαινίων του νέου Ενοριακού Ναού Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου, στην περιοχή Brofodoume (24/2) , καθώς και την Ακολουθία των Θυρανοιξίων, τοποθετώντας Ιερά Αντιμήνσια στις 14 νέες Ενορίες και περεκκλήσια: Μεγάλου Βασιλείου Angre, Αγίου Μαξίμου Ομολογητού Bingerville, Αγίου Ιωάννου Θεολόγου Plateaux, Αγίας Μαρίας Αιγυπτίας Yopougone, Αγίου Γεωργίου Τροπαιοφόρου Djorobite, Αγίου Σεραφείμ Σαρώφ Abatta, Αγίου Νικολάου Μύρων Bassam, Αγίων Θεοφανείων Bouafle, Αγίου Ιωάννου Χρυσοστόμου Sinfra, Αγίας Μαρίας Μαγδαληνής Quasi, Μεταμορφώσεως του Χριστού Dabou, οι οποίες εντάχθηκαν στην Ιερά Μητρόπολη Άκκρας. Επίσης, έθεσε τον θεμέλιο λίθο σε 3 νέες Ενορίες που προγραμματίζεται να ανεγερθούν.
Σύμφωνα με τις υποδείξεις του Μητροπολίτου και τις ενέργειες του νομικού συμβούλου της Μητροπόλεως, ανανεώθηκε το πεπαλαιωμένο Καταστατικό Αναγνώρισης της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας, προσαρμοζόμενο στις σύγχρονες νομικές απαιτήσεις του Κράτους και τις πνευματικές ανάγκες της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Άκκρας. Το Καταστατικό Δημοσιεύθηκε στην Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως και ο Σεβασμιώτατος διόρισε τα νέα Μέλη του Μητροπολιτικού Συμβουλίου.
Σημαντικός σταθμός για το μέλλον της Ορθοδοξίας υπήρξε η δωρεά οικοπέδου προς την Ιερά Μητρόπολη, όπου εντός αυτού τέθηκε ο θεμέλιος λίθος για την ανέγερση των εξής κτιρίων: του πρώτου Ορθόδοξου Μοναστηριού στην Ακτή Ελεφαντοστού, Ιερατικού Θεολογικού Σεμιναρίου και Μαιευτικής Σχολής.
Στο πλαίσιο της ποιμαντικής ευθύνης για τους Ορθοδόξους της χώρας, ο Μητροπολίτης είχε θερμή συνάντηση με εκπροσώπους του Αραβόφωνου ποιμνίου (Λιβανέζων, Σύριων, Ιορδανών και Παλαιστινίων), οι οποίοι αποτελούν την μεγαλύτερη κοινότητα στην Αφρική, με τους οποίους συζητήθηκε η πνευματική τους υποστήριξη και η ενίσχυση των δεσμών τους με την τοπική Ορθόδοξη Μητρόπολη και πάρθηκαν σημαντικές αποφάσεις.
Το ιεραποστολικό έργο του Πατριαρχείου Αλεξανδρείας και πάσης Αφρικής συνεχίζεται με σεβασμό στις παραδόσεις, κατανόηση των πνευματικών αναγκών και φιλανθρωπία, σε ολόκληρη την Ήπειρο. Ο Κύριος Ιησούς Χριστός, «ο φωτίζων και αγιάζων πάντα άνθρωπον ερχόμενον εις τον κόσμον», είναι Αυτός που κυβερνά την Εκκλησία Του. Κάθε αντίθεη, αντευαγγελική και αντικανονική δύναμη που πολεμά αυτό το έργο, χρησιμοποιώντας την ανθρώπινη κοσμική σοφία και τον πλούτο, σπέρνοντας το ψεύδος, την διάσπαση και τον διχασμό, θα καταπέσει. Η δόξα της Ορθοδοξίας θα λάμψει στις καρδιές όλων των Αφρικανών!
ORTHODOXY STRENGTHENS ITS PRESENCE IN WEST AFRICA
By the grace of God and the blessing of His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II, the pastoral visit of His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, lasting one month (22 February to 20 March 2025), has been successfully concluded. Accompanying the Metropolitan were the V. Rev. Archimandrite Aidesios Mukeke and the Hon. Mr. Georges Constantin, Director of the Office of Development and Technical Works of the Holy Metropolis.
This visit established a firm foundation for the presence, activities, and future of the Orthodox Church under the jurisdiction of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, specifically within the Holy Metropolis of Accra (encompassing Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mali).
The Metropolitan held meetings with ministers, senior government officials, political leaders, and religious authorities in both the political capital Yamoussoukro and Abidjan. These engagements were widely covered by national television, amplifying the visibility of the Orthodox Church.
A historic milestone was achieved with the reception into Orthodoxy and integration into the pastoral and spiritual jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Alexandria of a large group of Christians previously affiliated with an uncanonical “ecclesiastical formation.” Following their formal request and completion of canonical procedures, they underwent intensive catechesis over the past 12 months in Orthodox faith and tradition under the guidance of the Very Reverend Archimandrite Chrysostomos Kamuanga, a clergyman of the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasa.
Through the signing of the “Libel”, the Sacrament of Holy Chrismation, and subsequent Holy Confession and Canonical Testimony, His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel ordained 10 new priests and 13 deacons, now integrated into the clergy of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Systematic catechesis has commenced across all new parishes, including Chrismation (for those already baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity) and Baptism (for the unbaptized), serving approximately 5,000 faithful who now form the new Orthodox flock in Côte d’Ivoire. Notably, a similar process in 1982 brought a large group of Ghanaian Protestants into full communion with the Patriarchate, now constituting the devoted congregation of the Holy Metropolis of Accra.
His Eminence also ordained 23 Readers and 27 chanters (male and female) to serve the needs of the new parishes. He presided over the General Clergy Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire (13 priests and 13 deacons), providing guidance on pastoral, philanthropic, and missionary efforts.
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, and President of the Orthodox Theological Institute “Apostle Paul” in Brussels, eight priests, ten deacons, and thirteen clerical candidates from Côte d’Ivoire have commenced theological studies.
During his pastoral journey, the Metropolitan consecrated the new Parish Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Brofodoume (24 February) and performed the Office of the “Opening of the Doors”, placing Holy Antimensia in fourteen new parishes and chapels. These include St. Basil the Great (Angre), St. Maximos the Confessor (Bingerville), St. John the Theologian (Plateaux), St. Mary of Egypt (Yopougone), St. George the Trophy-Bearer (Djorobite), St. Seraphim of Sarov (Abatta), St. Nicholas of Myra (Bassam), Holy Theophany (Bouafle), St. John Chrysostom (Sinfra), St. Mary Magdalene (Quasi), and the Transfiguration of Christ (Dabou). Additionally, foundation stones were laid for three new parishes.
In accordance with the Metropolitan’s directives and the legal counsel of the Metropolis, the outdated Statute of Recognition of the Orthodox Church was renewed, aligning it with modern legal requirements of the state and the spiritual needs of the Holy Metropolis of Accra. The revised Statute was published in the Government Gazette, and new members of the Metropolitan Council were appointed.
A pivotal step for Orthodoxy’s future was the donation of land to the Holy Metropolis, where the foundation stone was laid for the construction of Côte d’Ivoire’s first Orthodox Monastery, a Priest-Theological Seminary, and a Midwifery School.
In fulfillment of his pastoral duty, the Metropolitan warmly met with representatives of the Arab-speaking Orthodox community (Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian, and Palestinian), the largest such community in Africa. Discussions focused on their spiritual support and strengthened ties with the local Metropolis, resulting in significant resolutions.
The missionary work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa continues across the continent with reverence for tradition, understanding of spiritual needs, and charitable outreach. As our Lord Jesus Christ, “the Light that enlightens and sanctifies every person coming into the world,” governs His Church, all opposing forces—those spreading falsehood, division, and discord through worldly wisdom and wealth—shall falter. The glory of Orthodoxy shall shine in the hearts of all Africans!

L’Orthodoxie se renforce en Afrique de l’Ouest
Par la Grâce de Dieu et les bénédictions de Sa Toute-Sainteté le Pape et Patriarche d’Alexandrie et de toute l’Afrique, Théodore II, s’est achevée la visite pastorale de Son Éminence le Métropolite Daniel d’Accra en République de Côte d’Ivoire, d’une durée d’un mois (du 22 février au 20 mars 2025). Le Métropolite était accompagné du Très Révérend Père Archimandrite Aidesios Mukeke et du Très Honorable Georges Constantin, Directeur Général du Bureau de Développement et des Travaux Techniques de la Sainte Métropole.
Cette visite a posé des bases solides pour la présence, l’action et l’avenir de l’Église Orthodoxe, sous l’omophore du Patriarcat d’Alexandrie et de toute l’Afrique, au sein de la Sainte Métropole d’Accra (Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali). Le Métropolite a rencontré des ministres, des hauts responsables gouvernementaux, des dirigeants politiques, civils et religieux, tant dans la capitale politique Yamoussoukro qu’à Abidjan. Ces rencontres, couvertes par les chaînes de télévision nationales, ont mis en lumière la présence de l’Église Orthodoxe.
Un moment historique fut la réception dans l’Orthodoxie et l’intégration sous la juridiction pastorale et spirituelle de l’Ancien Patriarcat d’Alexandrie et de toute l’Afrique d’un grand groupe de Chrétiens égarés sous une « formation ecclésiale » anticanonique. Après leur demande et l’accomplissement des procédures canoniques, ils furent catéchisés intensivement durant 12 mois dans la foi et la tradition orthodoxes par le Très Révérend Archimandrite Chrysostome Kamuanga, clerc de la Sainte Métropole de Kinshasa.
Par la signature du "Libellus", le Mystère de la Sainte Chrismation, suivi de la Sainte Confession et de la "Synmartyría" canonique, Son Éminence le Métropolite Daniel a ordonné 10 nouveaux prêtres et 13 diacres, intégrés au clergé du Patriarcat d’Alexandrie.
Des catéchèses systématiques ont également débuté dans toutes les nouvelles paroisses, avec l’Onction avec le Saint Chrême (pour les déjà baptisés au nom de la Sainte Trinité) et le Mystère du Baptême pour les non-baptisés, concernant environ 5 000 fidèles formant le nouveau troupeau orthodoxe en Côte d’Ivoire. Rappelons qu’un grand groupe de Protestants ghanéens avait embrassé l’Église Orthodoxe de la même manière, intégrés pleinement au Patriarcat d’Alexandrie depuis 1982 et constituant aujourd’hui le dévoué troupeau de la Sainte Métropole d’Accra.
Son Éminence a ordonné 23 lecteurs et 27 chantres (hommes et femmes) pour les besoins des nouvelles paroisses et a présidé l’Assemblée Générale des Clercs de Côte d’Ivoire (13 prêtres et 13 diacres), donnant des orientations pour les œuvres pastorales, caritatives et missionnaires.
Avec la bénédiction de Son Éminence le Métropolite Athénagoras de Belgique, Hiérarque suprême et Exarque des Pays-Bas et du Luxembourg, Président de l’Institut de Théologie Orthodoxe « L’Apôtre Paul » à Bruxelles, 8 prêtres, 10 diacres et 13 candidats clercs de Côte d’Ivoire ont entamé des études théologiques.
Durant sa visite pastorale, le Métropolite a célébré les Offices d’Inauguration de l’église paroissiale de la Dormition de la Mère de Dieu à Brofodoume et des "Ouverture des Portes", plaçant des Antimens sacrés dans 14 nouvelles paroisses et chapelles : Saint-Basile-le-Grand d’Angre, Saint-Maxime le Confesseur de Bingerville, Saint-Jean-le-Théologien des Plateaux, Sainte-Marie-l’Égyptienne de Yopougone, Saint-Georges-le-Victorieux de Djorobite, Saint-Séraphin-de-Sarov d’Abatta, Saint-Nicolas-le-Thaumaturge de Bassam, Saints-Théophanie de Bouafle, Saint-Jean-Chrysostome de Sinfra, Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Quasi, Transfiguration-du-Christ de Dabou, intégrées à la Sainte Métropole d’Accra. Il a également posé la première pierre de 3 nouvelles paroisses.
Conformément aux directives du Métropolite et aux actions du conseiller juridique de la Métropole, le Statut de Reconnaissance obsolète de l’Église Orthodoxe a été renouvelé, adapté aux exigences juridiques modernes de l’État et aux besoins spirituels de la Sainte Métropole d’Accra. Publié au Journal Officiel, ce statut a permis la nomination des nouveaux membres du Conseil Métropolitain.
Un jalon important fut le don d’un terrain à la Sainte Métropole, où fut posée la première pierre pour la construction du premier monastère orthodoxe de Côte d’Ivoire, d’un Séminaire Théologique et d’une École de Sages-Femmes. Ces bâtiments seront entièrement financés par un ministre du gouvernement, converti à l’Orthodoxie et baptisé par le Métropolite.
Dans le cadre de sa responsabilité pastorale, le Métropolite a rencontré des représentants de la communauté arabophone (Libanais, Syriens, Jordaniens et Palestiniens), la plus importante d’Afrique, pour discuter de leur soutien spirituel et renforcer leurs liens avec la Métropole locale, aboutissant à des décisions majeures.
L’œuvre missionnaire du Patriarcat d’Alexandrie se poursuit, respectueuse des traditions, compréhensive des besoins spirituels et charitable, à travers le continent. Le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, « Celui qui illumine et sanctifie tout homme venant en ce monde » (Jean 1,9), guide Son Église. Toute force contraire, anti-évangélique et anticanonique, utilisant sagesse mondaine et richesse pour semer mensonge, division et discorde, tombera. La gloire de l’Orthodoxie brillera dans le cœur de tous les Africains !
