Αγαπητά Μέλη και Φίλοι της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Σουηδίας και πάσης Σκανδιναυΐας,
(ΣΤΟΚΧΟΛΜΗ, 11 Ιουνίου 2026) -- Με ιδιαίτερη πατρική μέριμνα και αγάπη, σας απευθύνω την παρούσα επιστολή, προκειμένου να σας ενημερώσω ότι, μετά την παρέλευση τριών ετών από την αναγκαστική παύση λειτουργίας του Ιερού Ναού Αγίας Τριάδος Γκέτεμποργκ, εξαιτίας της σφοδρής κακοκαιρίας που έπληξε την περιοχή, με την πρωτοφανή πτώση θερμοκρασίας (-21 βαθμούς κελσίου), και προκάλεσε εκτεταμένες ζημίες, εισερχόμεθα πλέον στην ευλογημένη περίοδο της εκ βάθρων αποκαταστάσεώς του.
Κατόπιν των απαιτουμένων ενεργειών, μελετών και εγκρίσεων από το Μητροπολιτικό Συμβούλιο, επιθυμώ να σας ενημερώσω ότι από 1ης Ιουνίου 2026 ξεκίνησαν οι εργασίες της εκ βάθρων αποκαταστάσεως του ως άνω Ιερού Ναού, με στόχο την πλήρη επαναλειτουργία του και την επαναφορά της λατρευτικής ζωής της Ενορίας στην κανονική της τάξη.
Δεδομένης, λοιπόν, της ενάρξεως των εργασιών, ο υπογράφων, συνοδευόμενος από τον Θεοφιλ. Επίσκοπο Ελαίας κ. Βαρθολομαίο, μετέβημεν ομού στον εν λόγω Ιερό Ναό, την μεσημβρία της 10ης Ιουνίου 2026, προκειμένου, μετά από συνάντηση με τον εργολάβο, να δοθούν τελευταίες οδηγίες και φυσικά, με την επίκληση του ονόματος της Παναγίας Τριάδος, να ευλογηθούν οι εργασίες και να φτάσουν στο αίσιο πέρας της αποπερατώσεώς τους.
Η παρούσα εξέλιξη αποτελεί καρπό συντονισμένων προσπαθειών της καθ’ ημάς Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως.
Αξίζει δε να σημειωθεί ότι, ήδη από την ίδια ημέρα κατά την οποία πληροφορηθήκαμε το μέγεθος των ζημιών που υπέστη ο Ιερός Ναός Αγίας Τριάδος Γκέτεμποργκ, η Ιερά Μητρόπολις Σουηδίας, με αίσθημα ποιμαντικής ευθύνης και μέριμνας για το ποίμνιό της, προέβη στην ενοικίαση ναού που βρίσκεται πλησίον των εγκαταστάσεων της Αγίας Τριάδος.
Στο ναό αυτό συνεχίζεται μέχρι και σήμερα, κατά τρόπο απρόσκοπτο, η τέλεση των θείων Λειτουργιών, των ιερών Μυστηρίων και εν γένει η λειτουργική και μυστηριακή ζωή της τοπικής Εκκλησίας, ώστε να μην στερηθούν οι πιστοί την πνευματική τους διακονία και στήριξη, κατά το διάστημα της αναστολής λειτουργίας του ενοριακού τους ναού.
Προσδοκούμε ότι, με την χάρη του Θεού και την συνεργασία πάντων, το έργο θα ολοκληρωθεί εντός του προβλεπομένου χρονικού διαστήματος, δηλαδή σε διάστημα ενός έτους από της ενάρξεως των εργασιών αποκαταστάσεως.
Το κόστος των εργασιών ανέρχεται στο ποσό των 11.000.000 Σουηδικών κορωνών (910.000 ευρώ), το οποίο θα καλυφθεί, ως εξής:
1) Από την αποζημίωση που ελήφθη από την Ασφαλιστική Εταιρεία, ύψους 1.244.255 Σουηδικών κορωνών,
2) Από την Ιερά Μητρόπολη και
3) από την ειδική στήλη δωρεών, που προορίζονται για το συγκεκριμένο έργο.
Εκφράζονται ευγνώμονες ευχαριστίες προς όλους όσοι, μέχρι τώρα, υλικώς και ηθικώς, έχουν στηρίξει αυτή την ιερή προσπάθεια.
Προς διασφάλισιν της ασφαλούς και απρόσκοπτης εκτελέσεως των εργασιών, καθίσταται σαφές ότι, καθ’ όλο το χρονικό διάστημα των εργασιών αποκαταστάσεως, απαγορεύεται η είσοδος και παραμονή στον χώρο του Ιερού Ναού και των πέριξ αυτού εγκαταστάσεων, για οποιονδήποτε λόγο, προς αποφυγή ατυχημάτων, πλην των εξουσιοδοτημένων συνεργείων και αρμοδίων προσώπων, αφού ο όλος χώρος θεωρείται εργοτάξιο.
Ευχόμεθα, η Παναγία Τριάς να ευλογήσει την πρωτοβουλία αυτή και να χαρίζει υγεία και δύναμη σε όλους τους συντελεστές του έργου.

Commencement of Restoration of the Holy Trinity Church in Gothenburg
Beloved Members and Friends of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia,
(STOCKHOLM -- June 12, 2026) -- With paternal love and pastoral concern, I write to inform you that, following three years since the unavoidable closure of the Holy Trinity Church in Gothenburg due to the severe winter storm that struck the region and the unprecedented drop in temperature to –21°C, which caused extensive damage to the church property, we have now entered the blessed period of its comprehensive restoration.
Following the completion of all necessary procedures, studies, and approvals by the Metropolis Executive Board, I am pleased to announce that, as of June 1st, 2026, work has officially commenced on the complete restoration of the Holy Trinity Church. The objective of this project is the full reopening of the church and the restoration of the liturgical life of the parish to its proper order.
In connection with the commencement of the restoration project, accompanied by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia, we visited the church on June 10th, 2026. Following a meeting with the contractor, final instructions were provided, and prayers were offered, invoking the Name of the Holy Trinity, for the blessing and successful completion of this important undertaking.
This significant development is the fruit of the coordinated efforts and diligent work of our Holy Metropolis.
It should also be noted that from the very day we became aware of the extent of the damage sustained by the Holy Trinity Church, the Holy Metropolis of Sweden, acting with pastoral responsibility and concern for its faithful, arranged for the rental of a nearby church facilities.
In that church, the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, the Holy Sacraments, and the overall liturgical and sacramental life of the local Church has continued uninterrupted to the present day. In this way, the faithful have not been deprived of the spiritual care, support, and ministry of their Church during the period in which their parish church has remained closed.
We trust that, by the grace of God and through the cooperation of all involved, the project will be completed within the anticipated timeframe of one year from the commencement of the restoration work.
The total cost of the restoration project amounts to 11,000,000 Swedish Kronor (€910,000) and will be covered as follows:
